Jack Esterhuizen

Jack Esterhuizen is an editor who cuts for story and feeling. He sees editing as equal parts craft and instinct — balancing rhythm and emotion with technical precision and structure so directors and producers can trust him under pressure.

His work spans both features and high-profile television. Jack was Assembly Editor on Tremors 5: Bloodlines (2015) and Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell (2018) for Universal Pictures, and has since gone on to edit hit series such as MasterChef South Africa (2022, 2024, 2026), Survivor South Africa (2021–2022), Beat Shazam (2023–2024), and I Can See Your Voice (2024). Earlier in his career, he honed his craft on long-running South African dramas Isibaya (2014–2018) and Isithembiso (2017–2018).

Adaptable and curious, Jack is always exploring smarter, more creative ways to work — whether that’s experimenting with AI tools, shaping colour, or finding fresh approaches in the cut. For him, editing is the art of transformation: taking raw material and sculpting it into something polished, emotional, and alive.

Outside the suite, Jack balances the intensity of post-production with adventure sports and mountain running — time outdoors that fuels both his focus and creativity. (And comically, Thursdays are always his slow days — no idea why.)
