“There is nothing more exhilarating, and terrifying, than the first day on a project that I’m excited about,” Paul reflects. “Editing is like shuffling a deck of 52 playing cards knowing that the number of possible outcomes is so huge that if every person on Earth had been shuffling a deck every second since the Big Bang, we would not come close to exhausting even a fraction of the possible outcomes. So, before editing any project, it helps to remind myself that the Director has chosen me to deliver an edit that stands out from a universe of possible edits. It’s both a confirmation and a challenge, but it’s ultimately about trust and collaboration — and that’s worth getting up for every morning.”
